Free plans and measurements, so you can build your own outdoor furniture… for under $40!
I have been working on this wooden patio furniture for what seems like forever, but I am FINALLY excited to share that it’s done!
We used to have a large dark gray sectional which you can kinda see at the top of this picture:
Our horror-movie-style issues with the sectional…
We loved the look of it, but the cushions were super low quality and flattened out really quick. The BIGGEST issues I had with it was that it was open underneath and went all the way to the floor. We live out in the country and have a lot of spiders and other creepy crawlers around. One day I was power washing them all, turned one of the chairs over and SAW A BLACK WIDOW AND ITS NEST!! I kid you not. It’s like out of the worst horror film ever.
So I immediately took pics of them, posted them for sale, and they were gone the next day. I don’t do spiders.
Our new game plan:
We decided that the next look that we wanted would be wood/white cushions and like always, the sets I fell in love with were teak and all at least $3k… which was not in the budget.
So like I always do, I looked up a few plans and decided I could just build them! I ended up going with this one from Angela Marie Made! It seemed pretty straight forward and even though our cushions weren’t the same dimensions and I had to tweak the measurements, they turned out great! She does a great job explaining each step and includes a video tutorial.
Materials and tools I used for this chair:
- (6) 2×3 @ 8ft (framing lumber)
- (2) 1×3 @ 8ft
- 2 1/2″ Deck screws
- 2″ Brad nails
- 2 1/2″ Kreg screws (weather resistant)
- Stainable wood filler
- (1) sets of outdoor cushions (I used these from Target)
Changes I Made to the Tutorial:
I won’t reinvent the wheel, because the tutorial over here is a really great way to break it down! Only difference is that our chairs have these measurements for the frame:
2) 2x3x24″
2) 2x3x22″
5) 2x3x21″
4) 2x3x29″
4) 1x3x21″
The rest of the tutorial I followed exactly!
Good luck building your furniture and tag me in the final picture when you’re done!
